At IEEE VR 2026 in Daegu, South Korea, I had the honor of presenting our poster “๐ ๐ฆ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐น๐ฎ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐๐ผ๐๐-๐๐ณ๐ณ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ ๐๐น๐๐ถ-๐ฉ๐ถ๐ฒ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฝ๐๐๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ฆ๐๐๐๐ฒ๐บ ๐ณ๐ผ๐ฟ ๐ฃ๐ต๐ผ๐๐ผ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฎ๐น๐ถ๐๐๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐๐ป๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป”:
As part of our master’s project ๐ฉ๐ผ๐น๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป๐ซ๐ฅ at Cologne University of Applied Sciences, we developed a full pipeline โ from capture to display โ for ๐๐ผ๐น๐๐บ๐ฒ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐ถ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐ผ ๐ถ๐ป ๐ซ๐ฅ, focused on ๐๐๐ป๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ๐ฐ ๐๐๐บ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฅ๐ฒ๐ฐ๐ผ๐ป๐๐๐ฟ๐๐ฐ๐๐ถ๐ผ๐ป. A fundamental challenge in this field, however, is the accessibility of multi-view capture systems and publicly available datasets. This motivated us to ๐ฏ๐๐ถ๐น๐ฑ ๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ผ๐๐ป ๐ฐ๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ฎ ๐๐๐๐๐ฒ๐บ: one that is ๐น๐ผ๐-๐ฐ๐ผ๐๐ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ณ๐๐น๐น๐ ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฑ๐๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฏ๐น๐ฒ, in order to improve access to this field for the research community.
And we delivered! Thanks to the outstanding work of Kai Altwicker and Dennis Amuser, we were able to demonstrate that a system can be assembled for approximately โฌ๐ณ,๐ฑ๐ฌ๐ฌ โ capable of producing photorealistic reconstructions using ๐ฏ๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐๐๐ถ๐ฎ๐ป ๐ฆ๐ฝ๐น๐ฎ๐๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด. Feel free to replicate it and generate your own datasets!
Above all, it was a great joy and privilege to present our work at such a large and international conference. Thank you to everyone who stopped by and showed such genuine interest in our research โ the exchange with you was truly valuable.
